For nearly 40,000 thousand years Paleolithic and Neolithic civilizations peacefully flourished under the guidance of the Great Earth Mother: living with the Earth in egalitarian communities focused on partnership, abundance, and prosperity. These communities nourished women and the Earth. They thrived in balance with nature and the great mystery of life, honoring the Moon and cycles of creation and destruction. They seeded the native traditions of Europe and the Middle East, many of which have since been lost to patriarchal religions.  

The Bronze Age marked a turning point in history as Indo-European pastoral tribes begin invading the rich and sophisticated southern fertile areas inhabited by the Great Goddess. The Northern Invaders are the genesis of the fundamental shift from Earth based, egalitarian, matrifocal societies to male warrior dominant “patriarchal" civilization. Embedded in that shift is also a separation from the Earth and its cycles and a movement towards linear goal oriented economic, spiritual practices and lifestyles. At the core of this shift lies the great myth reversal and the takeover of creation by the Sun Gods. This class explores this pivotal shift in our history through the myth reversals and retelling of Mother/Goddess creation stories.
